Ekovest and Melia International partnership

Ekovest Berhad, one of the leading construction players in Malaysia, witnessed a momentous development yesterday following the signing ceremony with Spain’s largest hotel chain, Meliá Hotels International, to manage the hotel suites in Ekovest’s iconic and trendsetting EkoCheras development.

Ekovest and Meliá Hotels inked a Hotel Management Agreement today, marking the beginning of a promising partnership ahead for both companies. The 15-year management contract officially appoints Meliá Hotels as the operator of the EkoCheras Hotel Suites, which will be known as INNSIDE Kuala Lumpur Cheras. The hotel is scheduled to open in late 2019 and will offer 238 rooms with contemporary deco all across its 13 floors.
The popular INNSIDE by Meliá brand is trendy urban hotel concept that has been well-accepted internationally and has grown strongly over the years, driven by its customer value proposition.   Established in 1956 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, Meliá Hotels International is one of the largest hotel companies in the world and the largest hotel chain in Spain in both resort and city hotels. The company currently operates more than 370 hotels in 43 countries and 4 continents under its brands: Meliá, Gran Meliá, ME by Meliá, Paradisus, Innside by Meliá, TRYP by Wyndham, Sol Hotels and Club Meliá.
Ekovest Berhad Executive Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Lim Kang Hoo said: “From day one, we have carefully shaped the development of EkoCheras, in making sure that the project’s both residential and commercial units are more than just ordinary real estate investments. The entire development of EkoCheras has many new experiences to offer, but what was missing is a hotel operator with international standards to serve the guests with the best hospitality ever. Today, this missing puzzle has been filled.
“By joining hands with the INNSIDE by Meliá, EkoCheras is expected to see an increased traffic of visitors, particularly among work-trippers. The hotel guests will be able to enjoy a wide range of on-site facilities such as creative meeting facilities, 24/7 fitness centre including a swimming pool and a green terrace with a gardening deck,” said Tan Sri Dato’ Lim.
With a gross development value (“GDV”) of RM2.11 billion and located on a 12-acre freehold land, EkoCheras is only 9 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur City Centre and is easily accessible via Jalan Cheras, Middle Ring Road II, East-West Link, Grand Saga Highway and the SILK Highway. EkoCheras residential twin-tower is the tallest in the area, with its Sky Bridge at 200 meters and Roof Garden to enhance the living experience of the residents.  EkoCheras also boasts natural elements, lush greenery, and has achieved Green Building Index Certification.
One of the unique selling points of EkoCheras is the dedicated covered link-bridge that directly connects to Taman Mutiara MRT station from the mall. “Attracting the crowd to the mall is key for a mall to thrive. In order to achieve that, we successfully bring in many attractive and unique F&B Outlet and we are committed to create more unique F&B Experience to the Community.   Besides, there will be more exciting events and activities we will bring in to the community of Cheras and Southern KL.” Tan Sri Dato’ Lim said.
EkoCheras is part of an integrated development with over 1,500 units of condominium and serviced apartments, shopping mall, hotel, and office. The 1 million sq. ft. of retail space will create a wealth of shopping (eg. Village Grocer, H&M, Uniqlo, DeFacto) food and beverage (eg. Oriental Star, Xin Dau Ji, Wong Kok, Nanyang Café, Sushi Zanmai, Power Plant, Starbucks, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf), GSC cineplex, and entertainment outlets, which also provide job opportunities as well as improve the economic aspect of the surrounding area.
